You are #morethananynumber
Holla! Circles.Life recently launched a brand campaign coined #morethananynumber, but what does this actually mean? Let me delve further into the concept and what this means for us as a company, as a brand, and as an individual.
Before I start, here’s the main video for some context:
Now, what does #morethananynumber do for us, at all, you might be wondering. In a nutshell, this concept is about facing up to our fears, in relation to how society might typically define us through numbers. Whether is it PSLE scores, O levels, GPA, age, years of experience, number of likes, income etc, everything has a number tied to it. Isn’t it tiring?
Here, I’m zooming into 3 important themes:
1/ We believe in our customers.
When I say that we believe, it doesn’t simply mean just that. It means that we are accountable and responsible for how we treat our customers. While we may not be necessarily 100% there all the time (who is really?), the things that we strive to do for our customers shows just how much we want to get there. Sure, we make tons of mistakes all the time, but we learn every single time & we get better at treating our customers right. If anyone could see what actually goes behind the scenes of what we do, you’d see right through that despite all the noise above our heads, the core of it all goes back to the customers. Having key metrics to key teams, customer obsessed projects and integral engagement touchpoints that even the founders themselves care to the T, it shows so much. And we’re barely getting started.
Hence, every customer is #morethananynumber really, and as we unveil more stories, you will see it for yourself. This is why we do what we do, to change this industry step by step, and shaping our brand into something we’re proud of in our own special way.
2/ We believe in our employees.
Employees are essentially our ‘internal customers’, and if we do this right, it will project both internally & externally into everything we do. How we portray ourselves as an employee is a true reflection of the brand, and employees are responsible for this projection. In Circles.Life, in my own personal experience, we strive for growth, ownership, rocketship moments, etc. One key thing that drives all these is the fact that the company believes. Intern? No problem, please own this project. Fresh from school? Sure, take charge of this process please. 10 years experience? Amazing, now lead by example & give others the opportunities that you wish you’ve gotten & be the guide.
That’s really how we’ve shaped ourselves so far, and I hope this never changes. The culture of taking things into our own stride, making things work, making mistakes, tumbling and falling but also rising to every challenge to make things better. Every employee continues to deserve the chance, as long as he/she is willing to.
You can be employee #001 or #300, once you’re in, you’re in for the same journey.
3/ We believe in ourselves.
All these will not materialise if we don’t take that first step in believing in yourself. Whether is it the experience, the culture, the mindset, the belief, the system will only work if we believe in ourselves that we are bigger than any number that defines us for who we are.
Personally, I do constantly doubt what I’m doing because I’m ‘younger’ and not as experienced in the working world as compared to several others.
How do I manage? How do I lead? How do I motivate? How do I grow?
These questions are no doubt always at the back of my mind in everything I do. But do I let it stop me from doing anything I want to achieve? Nah, not really. If anything, this serves as fuel for me to learn faster & push harder, so I can be there for the team in any aspect. I’m nowhere near perfect, but I know I’ll continue to try. :)
So there, #morethananynumber can take any shape & form in however you want to depict it as, as long as it relates and resonates with you. It’s your own story!
Very proud of the entire team for making this come to life in the most genuine and real manner without any bullsh*t. That’s who we are.
